Preview: Diana Vishneva – On the Edge: London Coliseum, 14-18 April 2015

April showers

Ooh, Diana, I say! Diana Vishneva gets ready for On the Edge in her negligee.

Raunching her new show. Diana Vishneva is certainly getting me excited ahead of On the Edge. (And the posters splattered around the Tube are even bigger!)

One of ballet’s great artists is coming to London’s Coliseum in April to show off her considerable talents. Diana Vishneva, Principal dancer with the Mariinsky Ballet and American Ballet Theatre is presenting On the Edge, a programme of two works created especially for her.

Switch, choreographed by Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo’s director Jean-Christophe Maillot, is a pas de trios that also features Bernice Coppieters and Gaetan Morlotti. The music comes from movie soundtrack legend Danny Elfman and Vishneva’s costume is provided by none other than Karl Lagerfeld. Woman in a Room is a solo work created by Carolyn Carlson that’s supported by the Italian minimalism of composer Giovanni Sollima.

There are only three performances of On the Edge – on the 14th, 16th and 18th April 2015 – which makes it a rare opportunity to see this outstanding performer dancing such personal work. Tickets are available from the London Coliseum website.
