Back on the stage after taking time away to give birth to a daughter, Irina Kolesnikova returns to London in August 2015 with the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre. Taking no prisoners she’s undertaking a mammoth run of 9 Swan Lakes and 2 La Bayadères.

To help her along she’s recruited some of the best names in British and Russian ballet. The Royal Ballet’s exceptionally talented Vadim Muntagirov, Mariinsky First Soloist Kimin Kim and Ekaterina Krisanova and Denis Rodkin from the Bolshoi will all be playing leading roles at various points of the run.

The Independent on Sunday clearly likes her: ‘Kolesnikova has a glittering technique; Swan Lake shows off her best qualities, her Garbo-like smoulder creates a transfixing allure, both regal and unbearably tender.’ And the Sunday Telegraph loves the whole Company, saying they should be ‘treasured.’ So there you go.

Renowned for their traditional sets and costumes the Company will also be bringing the St Petersburg Ballet Orchestra with them to perform the music live. Ballet the old-fashioned way!

Swan Lake runs from 13-21 August 2015 and La Bayadère from 22-23 August 2015. See the London Coliseum website for tickets and casting information.
